Your Body is God
I am in the privileged position of assisting and leading individuals and families toward greater health and wellness. I realize that I do NO healing, but that I am a vehicle providing the means and information to heal. God does all the work, and should get all the praise. He made our body to self heal, self regulate and thrive, according to current science, for over 100 years.
He did make a few simple rules that someone in my position, dealing with the sick and suffering, can conscientiously observe and notice. These observations have been made by many individuals in the past and currently. For example, Dr. Weston Price traveled the world in the 30s and 40s, making observations about diet and nutrition that he documented in his book, “Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.” He found cultures that were almost completely “immune” from chronic disease. He also found cultures with rampant physical and emotional problems, affecting even the very young. What was the difference??
Dr. Price notes in his book that cultures that consumed what God (I believe he referred to Nature) provides had immunity to the diseases we accept as normal. He observed that the introduction of “foods of modern commerce” always resulted in the onset of physical disease and degeneration. Even within the same family, brothers that consumed different diets, had different health outcomes. Those that shifted their diets toward more modern foods of convenience began having physical problems almost immediately. Their children were born with facial asymmetries, narrowing of the facial bones, and often outright deformities. Their mental status and sociability suffered, labeled as mentally backward. Their teeth were crowded, and decay was rampant. They succumbed to sickness early in life. He also noted that a return to their native diets resulted in miracle healings.
These foods of modern commerce, that guaranteed physical illness and suffering, included refined sugar and flour, pasteurized dairy products, and processed oils and fats. These are the very foods of convenience that we consume so often today. The results are shocking!! We have children age 5 and 6 developing adult onset diabetes; we have children that are so socially inept that violence, killing and suicide appear to them to be their only way out; we have children whose minds are still developing placed on psychotropic drugs; we have more obese children than ever before; we have children under age 10 with high blood pressure and high cholesterol!!! As adults, it is rare to see someone over the age of 60 that doesn’t rely on drugs to feel mentally or physically “normal.” It is also rare to see an individual over 80 that is able to mentally and/or physically care for themselves. People are succumbing to heart disease and cancer in record numbers. We invent vaccines to the flu because our natural immunity has been so depleted that a simple virus can be deadly. We spend more on healthcare (drugs) than any other country, yet we suffer more and die earlier than almost all other developed countries.
I think it is time to bring the message to our ignorant masses…and the simple message is: “if God didn’t make it, DON’T eat it.” There are no donut bushes, you can not reach into fertile soil and pull out goldfish crackers, you can not find springs of fresh soda, or pull a bag of chips from a tree branch. These foods are processed…stripped of their nutritional value, heated to high temperatures, bleached, sweetened, flavored, chemically preserved, etc. Sure, somewhere, sometime, many steps earlier, it may have been a whole food, provided to us by God, but the more steps that we take to “improve” upon it, the more we suffer.
Why can’t children eat God’s candy (berries, fruit, nuts), or God’s foods (veggies, whole grains, beans and meat)? It is ok to feed our children this way! It is not cruel to withhold soda, donuts or candy. In fact it is cruel to provide them…once you know the consequences. Unfortunately, most of us do not! Change is never easy. In fact, I recall as a child, that once I tasted Cocoa Pebbles, apples somehow didn’t taste as good. Once I tasted French fries, broccoli didn’t taste as good. But this isn’t for our children to decide. Our children may wish to leave their seatbelt off, or play with matches, or play in the street, or eat sugary snacks every meal, or drink alcohol. It is not ok, and we must be the ones to set the standards.
I see our suffering not as a punishment from God, but as a natural consequence for disobeying his rules. I think God wants us all to live happy, healthy lives, probably for 100+ years, without suffering from dementia, physical decline or disease. This would allow us to worship Him, serve Him, and spread His word…using our physical body to its fullest capacity.
If we would move our bodies (exercise), stretch our bodies, eat whole foods and supplements, use our minds to think, work on our self esteem, positive thinking, help our brothers and sisters in need, and lead a spiritual life as God intended, I truly believe, and past and current research supports this, that we could virtually eliminate the mental and physical suffering that is so rampant today. God does answer our prayers, and I believe that He has shown us over and over how to respect the temple He has given us, and live free of disease and suffering. Please listen!
